Vegas Lights | Girl That You Love | Nicotine

Girl That You Love is a song by Panic! At The Disco on Too Weird To Live, Too Rare to Die!.

Lyrics

Drop every pretense
Drown every sense you own
For the girl that you love
Girl you loathe

Insistent pretext
So what does that make god
To the girl that you love
Girl you loathe

The girl that you love
Girl that you love
Girl that you love
Knows you don't

Denominations
Surrender all control
To the girl that you love
All control

Our indignation
To every tainted soul
And the girl you love
All control

The girl that you love
Girl that you love
Girl that you love
Knows you don't

The girl that you love
Girl that you love
Girl that you love
Knows you don't

Followed her
Followed her
Followed her
Followed her home

The girl that you love

About

I got back from a vacation with my wife, Spencer (Smith, drums) and his girlfriend. We spent two days in London and four days in Paris. It was a week of vacationing, having good time, good food. We got back and I was trying to learn French, and slowly getting it, then started to lose it and got mad at myself. I wanted to write a song in French. I was singing in French, which was 'Marshmallow Heart,' and everyone heard it as 'Girl That You Love.' I had the song mapped out... singing in French."

"Then it became matching syllables to words in English," he continued. "That's how it got built, from French to English, with different meaning, but matching syllables."

Brendon Urie

"Girl That You Love" was originally written in French following a five-day vacation in France. Bassist Dallon Weekes, who also performed lyrical duties for the album, later penned the English lyrics for the song based on Uries French demo. The song was originally written by Urie about his former bandmate Ryan Ross, and was dedicated to him in the album booklet.
