"Miss Jackson" (originally titled "Bad Apple") is a song by American rock band Panic! at the Disco feat. American singer and songwriter LOLO. It is the second track on their fourth studio album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, and was released on July 15, 2013, through DCD2 and Fueled by Ramen.
Background[]
The song's title is a reference to the R&B singer Janet Jackson. The lyric "Are you nasty?" refers to Jackson's 1986 single "Nasty".[2]
The song's original demo, "Bad Apple", contained a sample of Fiona Apple's song "Every Single Night". The band played the song for Apple, and were ultimately denied the rights to use her song.[3][4][5] In response, Brendon Urie called the singer a "bitch", due to Apple's decision to allow another singer the rights to use "Every Single Night" previously. While an official demo of "Bad Apple" hasn't leaked, a fan created their own version of what the demo may have been like.
In an interview with Alternative Press Magazine, Urie elaborated on the song's meaning by saying:
"'Miss Jackson’ is about something that actually happened to me when I was younger. I hadn’t really talked about it, and I felt that if I didn’t, I would keep thinking about it, it would drive me crazy. When I was younger, I would mess around; I’d sleep with one girl one night, sleep with her friend the next night, and not care about how they felt, or how I made them feel. And then it happened to me and I realized ‘Wow, that’s what that feels like? I feel really shitty'".[6]
In an interview with MTV, Urie said of the song:
"I knew I had to change, because I didn’t want to feel that way again, or make other people feel that way. So I wrote the song. It’s based off someone who is real, though I don’t think they would know it. They might suspect it, and if they figure it out, I’d love to talk to them about it."[7]

Lyrics[]
[Intro: LOLO]
Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark
No one knows it's you, Miss Jackson
Found another victim
But no one's gonna find Miss Jackson, Jackson, Jackson
[Verse 1: Brendon Urie]
You put a sour little flavor in my mouth now
You move in circles, hoping no one's gonna find out
But we're so lucky, kiss the ring and let 'em bow down
Looking for the time of your life (No one's gonna find out)
A pretty picture, but the scenery is so loud
A face like Heaven, catching lighting in your nightgown
But back away from the water, babe, you might drown
The party isn't over tonight (In your nightgown)
[Pre-Chorus: Brendon Urie]
Hey, where will you be waking up tomorrow morning?
Hey, out the back door, goddamn, but I love her anyway
I love her anyway, I love her anyway
Out the back door, goddamn, but I love her anyway
[Chorus: Brendon Urie]
Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty?
Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty?
Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty?
Are you nasty? I love her anyway
[Post-Chorus: Brendon Urie]
Oh, where will you be waking up tomorrow morning?
Oh, out the back door, goddamn, but I love her anyway
[Verse 2: Brendon Urie]
Way down till the fire finally dies out
You've got 'em wrapped around your finger, watch 'em fall down
There's something beautiful and tragic in the fallout
Let me say it one more time (Tragic in the fallout)
Oh, out the back door, goddamn, but I love her any—
[Bridge: LOLO, Brendon Urie]
Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark
No one knows it's you, Miss Jackson
Found another victim
But no one's going to find Miss Jackson, Jackson, Jackson
I love her anyway
[Chorus: Brendon Urie]
Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty?
Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty?
Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty?
Are you nasty? I love her anyway
[Post-Chorus: Brendon Urie]
Oh, where will you be waking up tomorrow morning?
Oh, out the back door, goddamn, but I love her anyway
