Pretty. Odd. is the second studio album by American rock band Panic! At The Disco. It was recorded at the Studio at the Palms in Paradise, Nevada with additional production at Abbey Road Studios in London with producer Rob Mathes. The album was released March 21, 2008 on Decaydance and Fueled by Ramen.
Panic! At The Disco retreated to a cabin in the rural mountains of Mount Charleston, in the group's native state of Nevada to work on the album. Ultimately dissatisfied with their final product, they ended up scrapping the entire album, Cricket & Clover, and instead began writing and recording Pretty. Odd. throughout the following winter. Inspired by baroque pop and bands such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, the psychedelic-styled rock album differs greatly from their techno-influenced debut album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.
The record entered the US Billboard 200 at number two, and peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart as well. The album spent eighteen weeks on the Billboard 200 and "Nine in the Afternoon", the LP's first single, went gold and became the most popular single from Pretty. Odd.. The stylistic changes displayed on the record brought the band critical acclaim, but underwhelming sales in the aftermath of their platinum-selling predecessor. During this time, the band dropped the exclamation point from its name, as well as other defining elements from previous stage shows and performances. Pretty. Odd. has recently gained RIAA Platinum certification and (British Phonographic Industry) BPI Silver certification in the United Kingdom.
